Change of Ownership

In the late 1970's, the entire South Kensington estate belonging to the Smith Charity was sold to the Wellcome Trust, a purchase which was masterminded by the Wellcome chairman Sir Roger Gibbs. The Wellcome Trust as freeholders have proved to be a more hands-on type of owner than was the regime under Henry Smith’s Charity. Members and executives of OSRA regularly meet representatives and agents of the Trust to discuss current matters. A realistic and collaborative arrangement now exists to the benefit of all parties.
